When we lived in Louisville, Kentucky, my wife became a member of the Choral Arts Society. This group was dedicated to performing challenging choral compositions — everything from Bach and Mozart to Benjamin Britten and John Adams.
The conductor, James Rightmyer, asked if I could help him get the word out about major concerts. I agreed and developed posters that his members could then distribute around town to coffee shops, bookstores, music stores and anywhere that music lovers gather. The artwork would then be repurposed for program covers at the events.
It was a wonderful partnership, and I appreciated having a client who would let my ideas sing as loudly as his chorus. Following is a few of my favorite posters.
